Who we are

This site, Resources for Learning Spanish, is operated by Refined Talent Group LLC (the “data controller”). We help English speakers compare and find Spanish learning resources through a short matching quiz.

What personal data we collect

We collect only the data you voluntarily provide or that is necessary to deliver the quiz result:

• Email address (optional) — if you choose to receive your quiz result and starter plan.
• Quiz answers and result type — your responses to the 8 quiz questions and the matched learning path.
• Technical data — browser type, IP address, and page interactions collected automatically by our hosting and database provider for security and performance.

Legal basis for processing

We process your personal data under the following legal bases:

• Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) — when you tick the consent checkbox before submitting your email. You can withdraw consent at any time by contacting us.
• Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) — for storing anonymous quiz response data to improve the quiz matching logic and fix technical errors.
• Contractual necessity (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) — to deliver the quiz result and any emailed starter plan you explicitly request.

How we use your data

We use your data solely to operate and improve the quiz experience:

• Send your quiz result and 7-day starter plan by email (if provided).
• Store quiz responses so we can analyze which recommendations are most helpful.
• Diagnose and fix technical errors.

We do not sell your personal data, use it for unrelated marketing, or share it with third parties for advertising.

Data sharing and processors

We use Supabase as our database and hosting provider (data processor). Supabase stores quiz lead data on our behalf and is bound by appropriate data processing terms. Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside the European Economic Area (including the United States). Supabase provides safeguards for such transfers in line with GDPR requirements.

We also rely on Lovable for site hosting and error reporting. Lovable may process technical logs (including IP addresses and error traces) for platform stability.

Cookies and localStorage

We do not use third-party advertising or analytics cookies. We do use browser localStorage for essential functionality, such as remembering your cookie consent preference and managing any authentication sessions. You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings.

Data retention

Quiz lead data (including email, if provided) is retained for up to 2 years or until you request deletion, whichever comes first. If you withdraw consent, we will delete your email and associated quiz responses within 30 days.

Your data subject rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Erasure (“right to be forgotten”) — request deletion of your personal data.
• Restriction — ask us to limit processing in certain circumstances.
• Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
• Data portability — receive your data in a structured, commonly used format.
• Withdraw consent — withdraw your consent at any time (this does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal).

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority (in the UK, the ICO; in the EU, your national DPA).

Automated decision-making

The quiz uses a simple scoring algorithm to match your answers with a suggested learning path. This is not automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you (Art. 22 GDPR). It is a recommendation tool only — you are free to choose any resource you prefer.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
